Vocabulary Charades, Eco-Feast and Howell Nature Center

The students of Summers-Knoll worked together to hold a banquet in celebration of the "Farm to Table" theme. With the spirit of Halloween in the air, students entered the school in costumes made of repurposed items and gathered at the end of the day to share in a feast. Each classroom made a contribution to the feast. Our class prepared a roasted winter squash dish seasoned with cumin, coriander and turmeric. When the feast began, middle school students took on the responsibility of serving the younger students.

Practicing our vocabulary words took on the form of improv where a group was given a word and then asked to prepare a quick sketch to demonstrate their understanding.

Last Friday was our annual all-school field trip to the Howell Nature Center. Each class participated in a series of outdoor activities. Our class climbed a tower, built fires and shelters, zip lines across a small pond and used compasses and orienteering skills to solve a series of riddles.
