Innovation . Global Citizenship . Life Cycles . Farm to Table

With the goal of illuminating the various ways in which ideas and themes are connected across disciplines, our approach to themes in my class this semester will be different from that of last semester. Instead of studying a single theme per month, we will be focusing on projects that tie the various themes together and work on these throughout the semester. More details to come.

We began last week by viewing the documentary, Time for School, which shares the lives of children across the globe as they begin school for the first time. Many of the students were surprised by the differences in access to education as well as the perspectives of parents and societies, specifically those that disapproved of educating the young girls of their societies. As we continue to explore the lives of people around the globe, we will take a closer look at how our choices impact their lives as well as the stories and rituals that help define their world view.
